(February 2nd) We just completed our first day of 2008 spring training. I’d like to tell you that it was a fabulous day!

We thought that we were going to have rain today but instead, it cleared up! We had all the facilities to use and players had a terrific day to work in.

I was very impressed with the condition of some of the existing players, including Imae who will be challenged by Hosoya this entire season. Also Hayasaka looks to be in the good condition for being a young position player.

The pitchers will be throwing today except Naruse who wanted to take one more day off as he is trying to rest up his arm from the exhausted amount of throwing he’s had to do over the last 12 months. Everybody else threw and looked extremely good, including our No.1 draft, Hattori-toushu – he looked very good throwing a ball in the bullpen on the first day.

New gaikokujin (foreign) players, Winston Abreu, along with a veteran Brian Sikorski also looked very good. Julio Zuleta looks healthy and was swinging the bat well.

Looking forward to another practice day tomorrow! I hope everyone will stay with us.

Again, I want to tell you that the facility really looks great! I’ll be sending some pictures for you all very soon.
