(April 12th) It was our second day in Fukuoka. We played at a remote ballpark in Kita-Kyushu and had an outstanding game.

You know, in the beginning of the season, you look for the little points that might be important. This is one of the important games of the season since we got killed the night before by 13 to 1. We came out and had the young Kobayashi Hiroyuki pitching; he pitched wonderfully for us. However, he wasn’t able to hold the lead and the game turned into a 4 to 4 game in the 3rd inning. It was a shorter park so there were a couple of homeruns that might not have been homeruns if we were playing in a dome.

It was a game where we had to continue to battle and fight and we played with the most emotion in the entire season. We had a true test on today’s game, after the game we had on the 10th. We passed the test and are playing in colors. I’m very proud of the team.

Many things happened during the game today including the score changing back and forth. Many of the hitters were getting important hits as Matt Watson hit a homerun, Benny Agubayani got a big base hit to drive in a crucial run, Imae had a two run homerun, and Nishioka had 4 hits and 2 stolen bases in one game. Aono continued to hit and got another big RBI for us. Satozaki hit his first homerun this season along with getting another big base hit for us. The guys swung the bats as well as they have hit in the entire season.

We also had a situation where Julio Zuleta was hit on the wrist at which time he was very angry. I went out to first base to see how he felt. And as I was coming off of the field, Buchanan-senshu, who has been very hot hitting homeruns and hit against us with every swing he takes, decided to yell and tell me to get off of the field. Later on, I went to their dugout and told him that he had no right to speak to me in any tone, considering that he has so little experience and I probably won more games at the Major League level than he had. I made it pretty clear that I didn’t appreciate his rude comments.

On the next pitch, Aono got a base hit to center at which time Hayakawa, who was pinch running for Benny, came around 3rd and knocked over the catcher in a very close play at home plate. He was fired up - he got up and clenched his fist up in the air and had the entire team excited for him and for the feelings that we were trying to put together and that was good to see! I think emotion plays a big part in the game.

I’m really happy to see Hiroyuki getting the win even though he didn’t have his best stuff. That is one thing that the true big pitchers are able to do is win when they don’t have their best stuff. He endured and was very persistent getting out of a jam that we had in the 6th inning when their men were on second and the third base. They had no outs after an error in the infield and we had a 1 run lead. He got out of the inning without giving up a run and that was a very important team play by him. Also it was a good momentum change for us.

We’ll have another match at the dome and I’m looking forward to it.

Take care!

    Dear Bobby,
I know it was Buchanan who yell but I didn’t know that he was so rude. During the news reference, the Hawks commented that their players are not use to the ground condition at Kita Kyushu that made them lose to Marines. But I was wondering why the Marines can hit so well at the ground that they are not use too then. During the ¥300beer event that was held at the Marine Stadium last year , I feel so bad and irritated when the Hawks fans shout and yell at our players too. Frankly, it wasn’t a good idea to have the Hawks fan and Marines fan to sit so near each other. A fight was almost occured then. Bye bye and see all of you later at our ball park.

    (To Bobby-Kantoku
I was rooting for the team in front of the TV since I was not able to go to Fukuoka.
It was a great game. I mean, really.
I’ve been watching so many Marines’ games in the past, but the game was probably the best game where I became really passionate by watching it.
And that’s because I could see that the players were fired up. I continue to root for the team with all I have!!!
Please keep the passions going …)

(The team won the games against the SoftBank ☆ Yay~
It’s been a while since I saw the players playing in colors!
We, the Marines fans, were all rooting for the team.
We all had a great time rooting for you guys.
I’d like to see that kind of a game again!)

(The team has been doing great since the game in Kita-Kyushu (^^)
What we need now is to have Naoyuki Shimizu-toushu pitching as he is capable of pitching.
I wonder if he is doing better. I hope that he will take advantage of the momentum that the team has right now.)

  6. Mamitchy さんのコメント: (Mamitchy says):

(I could tell that the team became as one and was giving the best shot at the game by checking the official site.
You’ve always mentioned that the most important thing is to enjoy the game, and the game wasn’t really an enjoyable one, but I thought that it was one of the enjoyable games in a way.

    Keep up the great work!)
